2048 is a sliding-tile number puzzle. Every move slides all tiles as far as they can go; matching numbers merge and double. Your score goes up by the value of every merge. The game ends when the board is full and no moves are left.
Swipe (or press the arrow keys) to slide every tile in one direction. Two tiles with the same number merge into one with their sum. A new 2 or 4 appears after each move. Make a 2048 tile to win – and keep going for a higher score.
Keep your biggest tile in one corner and build a descending chain of tiles along the edge next to it. Mostly use two or three directions, and avoid the move that would pull your big tile out of its corner.
Yes. Press Undo or the U key to step back – up to 30 moves – including after a game over.
Yes, it is free with no sign-up. Your game and best score are saved in your browser automatically.
Yes. When you make the 2048 tile you can choose Keep going and aim for 4096, 8192 and beyond.
